Medley From The Hush, October 23rd, 2000GREAT

For those who missed our raging dance party at The Hush a few weeks ago, check out this little collection of clips that Caustic caught in between dancing. Although you cant really see it, you can hear the ridicules collection of dancing PSU chicks at the end who went NUTS for the Electric Sex.

THIS IS FUTUREBEAT

WE found this footage buried in the rubble after the most recent series of disco bombings.

Shermstixx played 2 sets last week in South East Portland, unveiling a side of his new music that almost no one has heard. The response was fantastic, like young punks at a burnt out disco, thirty years after the bomb dropped on 1981. By the end of songs people sang along to words they had just encountered, taken up by the power expressed. LISTEN TO IT ALL HERE.

Start Fires interviewed on Portland Noise.com

Portland Noise is an extension of Pacific Noise, a music exploration site that grew from nothing to being a prime source to check out new music in the San Francisco Bay area. Its doing so well that they decided to start one up for Portland, and a few weeks ago they contacted us and came out to record one of our shows and do a short interview. Now its up on their site and its looks pretty damn sweet. Click the image and it will take you over to their site where you can watch the video (quicktime format).

Portland Underground Film Festival

This weekend will mark the fourth annual Portland Underground Film Festival taking place at the Clinton St. Theater from this Thursday June 12 throughout the weekend. The weekend is filled with interesting selections of local filmmakers work, shorts and the inimitable and unforgettable BIKE PORN NIGHT, which premiered last year to mass acclaim and is back with all new films that merge the concept of bikes and porn. Thursday night opens the festival with a dark film from the creative team (who will be there for Q&A) behind Hellraiser, titled “Bram Stokers: The Double Born”. The summary of this film sounds bizzare and unnerving, which will get you ready to join us at the Aalto and guzzle some New Deal vodka. Hold on to your ticket from the show because it will get you a free drink at the bar.

We have added some new songs to our set and are going to show up with enough strobe lights and facepaint to make it a night you will not forget.
We go on around 11 so be there and be ready to dance!

New shermstixx / weather exposed skeleton music collaboration

Apparently these dudes are working with Ethan Clarke to create part of the score for his latest animation. The track they made yesterday is called “frogpond” and if you are really staying up on alex’s music then you have probably already heard it on his myspace. Its really kind of sparse and mellow, but with a driving continuity in the rhythm. I think alex is describing it as cluster vs. eno. Weather Exposed Skeleton Music is created by Jason Gray, who is also one half of Saudade with Chris Cantino. Saudade just released their full length CD of ambient noise songs which is currently available in limited numbers of hand printed and packaged cd-rs. I am pretty sure you can message them for a copy, and its definitely well worth it.

Anyway if you haven’t heard the demo “so this is living” from shermstixx, you need to go to his myspace and check it out. this is futurebeat.

supertrash movie fest

Its ON. Magnum Force, Lost Boys, Rumble Fish…If you haven’t seen any of these cult classics you owe it to yourself to head down to the Bagdad Theater this Saturday or Sunday and check em out. If you have seen them then you are probably well aware that the SuperTrash Movie Fest is your kind of scene, not only featuring the movies you love to talk back to at the brew-pub/theater with the biggest screen, but also a whole cavalcade of supporting local businesses set up in the lobby. Everything from massage tables to graphic tees and local music, visitors will be immersed in local culture and cinema madness. And beer, so yes its 21+ but only AFTER 6pm! ALL AGES before 6, and the films will be playing all day saturday and sunday, so make your way over there, get some popcorn and HAVE FUN!
